An Ex-pat Canadian wife and artist's journal about life in Copenhagen and what's cooking in her kitchen along with her many travel stories and adventures in Europe.
Hi Everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend. On Saturday night, Andreas and I attended the LINK (Ladies International Network in Copenhagen’s) Snow Ball and had a nice time. The venue for the Ball was at the Beautiful Hotel Angleterre located in downtown Copenhagen at Kognens Nytorv. The hotel is very nice and decorated in renaissance style. I thought it was just a beautiful place. The reception area and the hall were set up beautifully and the buffet was very good. There was also live band and they played great music and got the people up dancing. Andreas and I danced most of the night and we had a nice time. The highlight of the evening was winning the 2 hour Luxury facial & massage at the Arndal Health Spa in the hotel. My mom says I should get some lotto tickets here because I have been quite lucky winning door prizes at the past events..lol. Have a great week everyone.
A few pics from the evening. I did not take too many.

And My Prize

Hi Everyone, I have been quite busy these days and I am happy to say that I finished another flower painting for my Funky Floral series. This time its all about Violets - African Violets.
Thus my title
"African Queen", Acrylics, 40 x 50 cm canvas.

It has been awhile since I have posted on my little blog. Things are back to normal since Andreas is home and his eye is healing very nicely. We had some stress when he got back home and we had to deal with the Danish Health System. It's a long and frustrating story and I dont want to get into all the details here. Let's just say it's a good job we had some connections so that Andreas can see an Eye specialist.
Well, I have been very busy painting and researching. I have so many ideas in my head that sometimes I am just too busy..LOL. Well, it was our first snow fall yesterday and early this morning the sun was coming out and the buildings and sky were glistening on the water from the new white snow. I thought it was a beautiful view so I took a pic and thought I would share it with you.
Hi Everyone, I just finished a “get well” painting for my sweetie. He loves the beach and bright colours, so I thought this would cheer him up.
Some of you may know but Andreas was away on business and got some nasty liquid soap in his eye and suffered a very bad infection to his cornia and had to be in hospital for a few days while he was there. His eye is doing much better and the doctor said that there should be no permanent scaring, so that is wonderful news. He is supposed to come home this Sunday night if he can get a flight out. I really miss him and look forward to seeing him.
I think he will like this little painting. “Beach Colours” is done in Acrylics and measures 20 x 40 cm – long rectangle. I have framed it in a box frame. I attach two pictures..one in higher resolution and a pic of it framed. Have a wonderful weekend.

Playing more with some quick portraits and having fun!
So who's this girl?

Well it is a lousy day here today and my hubby is on a biz trip.
I was feeling creative this afternoon and I decided to do some experimenting on self portraits, as I have never done one before. Phew...ket me tell you it sure was a big challenge. Geez, I have never even painted a face before. I really admire those portrait painters. Anyways I had some fun - an that's what counts!
P.S. I think I will stick to my usual work...LOL. Anyways, here are my results:
So here are my attempts. By no means, was I going for a realism painting..LOL. Just my usual little style:
1st in water-soluable pencil colour:
Then done over in a fine acyrlic wash:
I have been really busy painting since I got home and I am happy to announce that I finished my Venice painting, 50 x 60 cm done in acrylics. I absolutely loved Venice; it is a beautiful place with so much to see and its beautiful buildings and colours inspired me to do this painting. Andreas really likes this one and will bring it to his office to join the Colours of PortoFino. Have a great weekend everyone!

Wishing you all a Very Happy New Years
And all the best for 2007!
We had a wonderful view on New Years Eve of the fantastic fireworks in Hellerup over the Oresund Bay!
The Danes sure can bring in the new year with a bang!
