Lucky Winner

At the Amcham Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday night, there were several drawings and I was the lucky winner of this Elizabeth Arden Makeup ensemble prize. When I first one, I thought it was shower gel and body cream, and don't get me wong, I was really happy to win! So when I opened the package last night I was really quite surprised to find some beautiful makeup in colours that I like. Oh and the turkey was absolutely delicious!

Kitty Babushkas

My friend Sue went to Russia and brought me back these adorable stacking Kitty Babushka Dolls. They are all hand painted and signed by the Artist. I have never seen these dolls done as cats before, and it was the perfect choice for me being such a cat lover.

I think they are the cutest things and I know many of my readers love cats too, so I thought I would share this picture with you.

Well, we have a busy weekend planned: Today we are going to the American Chamber of Commerce Thanksgiving dinner Buffet at the Marriott hotel and afterwards we are meeting friends at pub for a birthday celebration. I am really looking forwarding to eating some yummy turkey with all the trimmings.

Wishing you all a great weekend everyone!

New Painting Studio Blog

Well for over a year now I have been keeping a personal blog about my daily life in Copenhagen, recipes, and our travel adventures; and I have really enjoyed keeping such a journal. It has been nice to look back upon and share such moments with my close friends and family.

I recently noticed that there are so many artists keeping painting blogs now about their ideas, sketches, daily paintings, and other studio news that I thought I would also start another blog this time dealing with only my painting activities in my Studio here in Copenhagen.

So if you enjoy and are curious about my new ideas, painting progress and other art related news, please do drop my Studio Blog to see what I have been up to.

The Perfect Warm Winter Meal

In Canada and in Copenhagen our winters begin early with short days and long cold winter evenings. As the bbqs are put away, I find I tend to cook more during this time of the year, and I’m always looking for different things to make for dinner. One of my favourite things to make during the winter time is Boeuf Bourguignon. It is so easy to make and so delicious. It does take time to stew, and the longer the better.

Well, it has been almost a year since I made this recipe so I made it the other night. This time I added some fresh fried mushrooms at the end to the broth and then thickened. It was delicious! I really do like making this meal as it is hassle free.

Isn't this Adorable?

I saw this cute little Christmas decoration the other day and had to buy it. It is a little Danish “Nisse” candle holder. A Nisse is a mythical creature of Scandinavian folklore, believed to take care of a farmer's home and barn and protect it from misfortune, in particular at night, when the housefolk were asleep. In the 1840’s the modern nisse became the bearer of Christmas presents in Denmark, and was then called "julenisse".

Dinner in less that 30 minutes

Last night I prepared a similar recipe I saw on the Rachel Ray show. She has all these great recipes you can whip up in 30 minutes or less and many of them are Italian based which I love!

I made whole wheat penne tossed in a chicken and mushroom, cream wine sauce. It was absolutely delicious and took me less than 30 minutes to make. I had some leftovers for Andreas and he was also impressed with the meal.

If you want the recipe please send me a note and I will send it to you.
Have a great Thursday everyone!

Part of the 50x50 Project

Some time ago on the internet, I came across this artist, Mark Cotton, who's putting together an installation of artwork from different artists world-wide. In his project, all the paintings have been resized to 50x50 pixels and displayed in a collage. I submitted one of my paintings and he emailed me yesterday that it was accepted and added to his collection. Here's the link http://www.markcotton.com/50by50.html

My Sunflower painting is located on the top row, third thumbnail from the left. You can also click on the thumbnail and a new window will open displaying my painting in full, the title, my name and a link to my website. I am pretty excited to be part of this project and it is also some good advertising for my work.

My Latest Painting

I finally finished my Gerber daisy painting. I was so busy this fall with traveling and visiting I did not have too much time for painting.
This is the latest piece added to my Funky Floral Collection.
